Sydney

The best way to describe Sydney is New York in Australia. It was such a weird experience becuase until this trip all I had seen was the most laid back country in the world. Sydney really is a different country all together. It was very high fashion, high pace, and trendy...pretty much just not me!! But it was a great place to spend a few days. Plus I found my new car there. The Blue Mountains are 107km above Sydney and they were beautiful. The are called the Blue Mts. because the trees emit particles caught by the sun that make the Jamison Valley appear blue (ok well I thought it was interesting).

21st Birthday

Hey I just wanted to send out a thank you to everyone who remembered me on my birthday. It was one for the record books. If you had asked me a year ago where I would be on my 21 birthday, I don't think I would have seen this comming. 8:30am we climbed Mt. Timbargarna, and had lunch on the top. 3:00pm we were back and ready to go on the boat for a cocktail cruise and sunset. Then it was off to Fridays, a bar on the water for live music. Not a bad day at all...

Fraser Island

This weekend we went to Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world. All of the lakes in the pictures are fresh water lakes, in the middle of a sand dune with sandy bottoms. The boat wreck is an old cruise ship that was washed up. The actual boat is 10 times the size of what can be seen above ground!!! All of the water is drinkable and pure because it comes from underground hydrovents. The 4x4 bus was our means of transportation on the beach and rain forest. The last picture is a freshwater lake that we went to. Hopefully Ill have some more stuff up soon. I miss and love ya'll.

So it is an awesome trip. I went right through security at Atlanta and met Ryan at the gate. It was neat to have someone that I knew. Once I got on the plane I found a row of three seats that I was able to claim so I was set I stretched out on my “sofa” the whole flight. The flight was great and I watched a movie and read a little. I decided that trying to look out the windows of a plane is like one of those animals with the eyes on the side of its head trying to look forward, looking back and forth. I met a girl on my flight that was going to Melbourne University and turns out she had a group of 80 on the plane with us. The plane was 80% college students and we all had a blast getting to know each other and finding out everyone's story. All of the students are really wild on the plane and a lot of fun.(it helped that the airline serves free drinks over international waters) The plane was the nicest I had ever been on. There were TV screens for each seat! It was really crowded and I thought I was going to have to stay in me seat next to this women that wasn't friendly. The flight attendant told me to, “have a stroll around the plane and find something with more room”, in a really cool Aussie accent. I found a seat on the bulk head with more room that was a lot better.

A few more pics of the shows!

Australian Zoo

Hey, I just wanted to share a few more pictures with you. All of the international students took a trip to Steve Irwin's zoo. (the crocodile hunter)

First week impressions

So its been forever and I know I havent gotten around to keeping you updated. My only thought is that this is a good sign. I have been so busy that I truly haven't had time.(plus the internet down here is a little tricky) But anyways, Ive finally got it under control and will try to post regularly. The uni is great, class started yesterday and I finally had a wakeup call that this is not just a vacation. The people where I live around are amazing and Ive made more friends than I could have ever imagined. Remebering names is the biggest problem of the day! I had a realization of how relaxed it is here when one day my whole agenda of things to do was get ping pong balls for the table...that it!!! What an amazing life. We just finished O week or orientation week, which is Australian for parties. The events they had lined up were a blast. I sent a few pics to give you an idea. The Hawaii night was my favorite!!! The beaches are beautiful and Im starting to pic up surfing. Anyways please send me an email soon to keep in touch. Talk to you soon.
